Sandra Gúzman

I am the Founder of the Climate Finance Group for Latin America and the Caribbean (GFLAC), working on areas such as tracking climate finance flows and needs, elaborating national strategies on climate finance, and mainstreaming climate change in public finance systems. I am the author of the Sustainable Finance Index and I created other methodologies related to climate finance tracking as part of her work in GFLAC.

I have a rich experience of over sixteen years in climate policy, climate finance and climate negotiations. I was a Manager of climate finance at Climate Policy Initiative. I worked as a consultant for the Standing Committee on Climate Finance at the UNFCCC on the first report on the determination of the needs of developing country Parties related to implementing the Convention and the Paris Agreement. I am also former General Director of Climate Change Policies at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico.

I hold a PhD in Politics from the University of York, a Master’s degree in Environment Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, a Diploma on Sustainable Finance from the University of Oxford, and a Degree in International Relations from the National University of Mexico. I was awarded as the Intellectual of the Year 2018 by the Marie Claire Magazine and I was also, selected as one of the 34 Global Change-Makers by the Chevening Scholarship of the UK Government.
